The Utes were natives of Utah, Colorado, and a small portion of northern New Mexico.
The designation Ute refers to a group of various bands who share a common language. The bands include the following:
Muache (in southern Colorado)
Capote (also in southern Colorado)
Weeminuche (on the border between southern Utah and Colorado)
Uncompahgre (Taviwach in central Colorado)
White River (Parusanuch in northeastern Utah and northwestern Colorado and the Yampa in northern Colorado)
Uintah (in Utah)
Pahvant (in Utah)
Timpanogots (in Utah)
Sanpits (in Utah)
Moanunts (in Utah)
